Orchid Tree Exotics/Quiko Breeder Success Kit
This program was developed jointly by Orchid Tree Exotics and Quiko to assist bird breeders achieve success in their breeding efforts. It is designed to get breeding birds in prime health and condition prior to and during the breeding season. It also provides the essential nutritional elements for the growth, survival and development of the chicks. The program should be offered as a supplemental feeding program to the basic seed diet.
Directions for use;
Place the Rusk in a mixing bowl and add enough cold water to “float” it. Allow it to soak until water is absorbed (3-5 minutes).
Add the dry Classic to the moist Rusk and mix thoroughly.
Add one teaspoon of Forte and mix thoroughly. Feed this mixture to the adults once a week throughout the year (approximately 2 tablespoons of the mixture per bird). Prior to breeding season feed this mixture daily.
Once eggs are laid, add one teaspoon of Plus to the mixture. Continue feeding this mixture daily until the chicks fledge.
These mixtures can be refrigerated for one week to ten days. They can also be packed in zipper top freezer bags and frozen for future use.
Prior to the breeding season add one teaspoon of the liquid Med to 16 ounces (one pint) of drinking water. Provide this as the sole source of drinking water for five days as an initial treatment. After the initial treatment a one day prophylactic treatment every 6-8 weeks will keep the birds parasite, bacteria, and coccidia free. It’s also a good idea to use the five day treatment on newly acquired birds in quarantine prior to introducing them into the aviary.
